Thriving in these challenging times

March 4, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Tough times call for adaptation and evolution, not desperate measures. Ramping up our creativity is how we’ll survive and thrive over difficult stretches of time. Now we are back to square one, where ingenuity will give birth to actual products and services to be sold. This is opportunity lurking. Don’t wait to hear it knocking. Some of us will react by using the “turtle strategy” : pull everything in, hold tight, and wait it out. Some of us will react by using the “headless chicken strategy:” run around panicked, without direction. Some of us will react by looking at needs and resources, finding matches, and seizing opportunities. We are limited only by our imaginations and our commitment to ingenuity.

Action is Born in Your Mind
As with all actions, everything starts with internal dialog. That internal dialog directs us in setting our course. If our focus is on our plight, we sit in our plight. If our focus is on our path out of the woods, we move out of the woods. Our interpretation of events directs us, not the events. We make the decision between victim and problem-solver from the start, and our actions merely follow through with that decision. As we’ve learned, we can shift from victim to problem-solver by shifting our internal dialog. The next step is taking that problem-solver to a new level of creativity. It means we need to be much more conscious about our internal dialog and our dialog with each other; all aspects of our communication. Opportunity may not be knocking as loudly as it once did, but that doesn’t mean we can’t seize it where it’s lurking.

Even during dark and desperate times there are certain prophetic people who can see beyond obvious challenges and fears. Every Pulitzer Prize was won by someone who shut their complaining mouth and took the risk to follow the thread of instinct. We can use the same principles today; practice, practice, practice doing this.

It’s easy to sit around paralyzed with worry about the future, but it feels really awful and gets you nowhere. You could stay in this state until the economy shifts and then you’ll be no better off. While the economy is not under your control, YOU are. You can control many elements of your reality. Take a minute to imagine your life exactly the way you’d like it to be. Then ask yourself what YOU can do to make things different. What’s your vision? What is the first step toward that? Take that step. Then take the next step. One step at a time you move toward your vision. When the economy shifts again, you’ll be in a better position relative to your heart’s desire.

Each one of us has certain doors of possibility that can only be accessed by allowing our internal daydreams to flow without restriction.
Create the environment to allow this from time to time. Use all that time you’d spend watching the news. Fill your mind with images of your heart’s desire rather than the images from the news. You may find that you can be happy and inspired even in the midst of these wild times in which we’re living.

What is the first step? Set that in motion. Share it with me if you like.

The current economy: fear, constriction, and dissociation OR a potent opportunity for discovery, growth, and transformation?

The current economy: fear, constriction, and dissociation OR a potent opportunity for discovery, growth, and transformation?
We are powerless to change that which we lack conscious awareness of.
Given our current financial condition, it is time to explore both our personal and collective relationship with money more deeply.  Money can be a very powerful teacher of what we have yet to learn about who we are as human beings.

We all possess unconscious beliefs, patterns and behaviors around money that are largely unknown to us.  It is time to embark upon a deeper learning and integrate money into our spiritual work.  We created it, we made it powerful, and its movement in the world is a direct reflection of our consciousness. As we become increasingly more conscious of this aspect of ourselves, we can begin to co-create a more meaningful and sustainable experience with money and the world around us. The other reward we will receive for doing our personal money work, I believe, is access to the pure potentiality that money represents that will allow us to become more evolved and fulfilled in all areas of our lives. This potential is greater than we ever imagined possible.

It’s interesting to note that the early alchemists did not attempt to turn lead into gold for financial gain, they were seeking spiritual gain. Quite literally, the process of turning the darker, heavier metal of lead to gold was to raise one’s consciousness, not one’s wealth. The alchemists were seeking enlightenment. On the path of seeking spiritual truth, gold was merely a physical manifestation of their enlightenment.
Until we understand and transform our relationship with money and become the alchemists in our own lives, money will always be problematic. Seeking to possess it without understanding its true purpose and meaning in our lives will only leave us feeling more conflicted and unfulfilled. The journey is not about money. The journey is about truth and self-discovery, an archeological dig to the center of the truth of who we really are.
Now, more than ever before we are all being called to delve deeper into our spiritual journey. We must take action to create a world to that values human beings and our planet above profit. We need to trust that there is enough for everyone. Spirit will provide. We must resist the temptation to go into fear and constriction as there is nothing that can be gained by this. That is a trap that only stands to fulfill itself. Now is the time to release and let go of all that no longer serves us so that we can create the space to receive that which does.

What will be your first action in this direction?

THE SECRET TO INCREASING YOUR INCOME MORE EASILY, Part 4

THE SECRET TO INCREASING YOUR INCOME MORE EASILY, Part 4

Face your fears
They are there to make your stronger, more agile and a better player. They show up as information to guide you to a place that in an untapped well of energy. Once you master this, nothing can stop you. Nothing. No challenge that shows up will daunt you. It is one of the keys to successful leadership and self-mastery.
Your relationship with money is as real as any relationship. So think about it. When you are being yourself, loving yourself, proud of yourself, you attract a real sustainable, sensational relationship. If you are out there ‘fishing’, being what you think will attract another, being desperate and doing whatever it takes, what usually happens to the relationship when the real you comes to the surface? Or what do you have to do to keep the relationship you attracted when you were out of integrity with yourself? And how exhausting and distracting is that?

It is the same thing in business and goes back to the point about knowing who you really are. And THIS is what you market. Look at all the great companies you know or love-there is an identifiable person who most people really respect that draws the client or the customer.

This is the truest power there is. Once you have rediscovered the place you came from, your vulnerability, nothing can ever take your power again. Look at a child-could hey be more vulnerable? And are not most children fearless? When you can be comfortable in being vulnerable you will have discovered your greatest source of strength. It is counterintuitive but it is real. You must have this tool in your tool belt for you to build your dreams.

THE SECRET TO INCREASING YOUR INCOME MORE EASILY, Part 3

THE SECRET TO INCREASING YOUR INCOME MORE EASILY, Part 3
Let’s say you’re fortunate enough to have a sense of your purpose.  Now what?  It’s not all downhill cruising from here.  You’re likely to meet up with resistance internally and externally. People resist consciously and unconsciously. The reason we resist is fear, for a few reasons: 1. We know that it is a road we must travel alone. Even if others are going with us, we now answer to a higher call and must follow that inner guidance. 2. Many people will not and cannot understand what we experience because they have not experienced it themselves so we must seek out people who understand the process so we can relate our experience. 3. We have an ego.

Your ego, the part of you that you think of as “I”, makes choices and takes action in the world. It is responsible for your safety. One of the primary ways that the ego ensures safety is to maintain the status quo.  The ego is not keen on any growth or change that diminishes the ego’s hold on you or reality as it knows it.  Your ego isn’t going to let you find or pursue your purpose if it thinks that it is or will be unsafe from it’s perspective.

You’re probably aware of your desire to know your purpose, or you wouldn’t be reading this.  Are you also aware of the part of you that DOESN’T want to know your purpose, or is AFRAID of knowing your purpose? If not, sense into it. Watch what arises in you as you entertain notions such as: “what if my purpose tells me to change jobs?”, “What if my purpose doesn’t involve making a good living?”.

Our fears come from our attachments and resistance to step into the truth and accept it’s reality.

THE SECRET TO INCREASING YOUR INCOME MORE EASILY, Part 2

THE SECRET TO INCREASING YOUR INCOME MORE EASILY, Part 2

Discovering your life’s purpose requires choices. The
two most important choices are these: Do I want to know what my
life’s purpose is? And, having discovered my purpose, do I want to
live my life in a way that is consistent with that purpose? However, in contemplating whether to discover one’s purpose, people may fear that which is unknown to them. Contained within this unknown, though, is the part of you that already knows your purpose and how to fulfill it.

In order for us to manifest our purpose, we must be properly trained. Fortunately, the soul develops and executes our training plan. It does this by influencing our decisions and helping us to choose things that will develop us in ways that serve our purpose.
The soul also “arranges” experiences for us that will cause us to grow and develop. These experiences can often be unpleasant, such as car accidents, being fired or laid off, and losing loved ones. However, it is most often our “worst” experiences that can teach us the most. The soul doesn’t cause these things to happen in the normal sense, but often steers us toward learning opportunities that our ego would naturally avoid. Along the way, as we try out different things, we act in ways that are in alignment with our fundamental purpose, and also in ways that are not. While we are usually unaware of the purpose itself, these two ways of behaving feel very different to us when we reflect on our actions and behaviors.

By looking back over our lives and reviewing the qualities of our previous experiences, we may see that there were sets of qualities of experience that correspond to times when we were on-purpose and other sets of experiences that correspond to times when we were off-purpose. By looking for similarities in those times or events, we can draw conclusions about our purpose.
We’re looking for times when we felt fulfilled, passionate, intensely alive, thoroughly utilized, that we make a difference, when things happen easily and seemingly chance coincidences occur to support our goals and projects, and our efforts produce results, as well as times when there is serendipity, flow or grace. At such times, it’s as though the wind is at our backs and is moving us along with very little sense of efforting on our part. The process is enjoyable even if it’s challenging, and we aren’t concerned about having enough energy or motivation to achieve our objectives. These are the times when we are ON PURPOSE although we may not be aware of our purpose as it’s occuring. When we are doing things in our life that support our purpose, our soul and life gives us positive feedback.

When we are out of alignment with our purpose, it feels very
different. We find obstacles at every turn. We have to muster up the energy and the will to follow through and complete things. There is a sense of swimming upstream or walking headlong into the wind and having to effort to move forward at all. We don’t enjoy the process much of the time. We are not satisfied by our accomplishments, or the satisfaction is fleeting. We wonder, at times, why we’re doing what we’re doing, and imagine greener pastures. I call this experience “slogging through mud”.

THE SECRET TO INCREASING YOUR INCOME MORE EASILY AND ENJOYING YOURSELF IN THE PROCESS

THE SECRET TO INCREASING YOUR INCOME MORE EASILY AND ENJOYING YOURSELF IN THE PROCESS

No, this is not from one of those late-night infomercials on T.V.
This is about doing work you love, work you were meant to do, and earning money more easily as a result. This is the connection between money and life purpose.

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy!”
—Mevlana Rumi

What do I mean by “life purpose”? I mean it as an answer to questions like:
• Why am I here?
• How can I, given who I am, best serve humanity/the world?
• What am I meant to do?
• What lights me up from the inside more than anything else?
• What work would I want to do if earning a living wasn’t an issue?

Many people aren’t aware of their purpose and may think that they just don’t have a purpose. The good news is that everyone has a purpose, yes, even you. What’s more, you don’t need to go searching for your purpose; it is already inside you. It has been guiding you your whole life, whether you are aware of it or not.

Knowing your purpose can dramatically enhance your experience of
life. Purpose-driven people experience more fulfillment, more
success, and often greater financial rewards than other people.

Paradoxically, people who set out to live their purpose often make
more money than people who set out to make money! This is because we are better at doing our purpose than we are at doing anything else and because we tap into the resources of the universe when we are pursuing our purpose. Some liken it to having the wind at their back. They may be applying themselves intensely to their work, but there’s a greater sense of ease and flow than when they do other work that has no relation to their purpose.

Another incentive for knowing and fulfilling your purpose may be anticipating how you want to feel at the end of your life: to be able to look back on your life with a sense of satisfaction, knowing that you gave it your all, and that your life made a difference and had some significance in a way that’s meaningful to you. Dying people rarely regret the things they did; they more often regret the things they didn’t do and having a sense of having not fulfilled their purpose.

Money Coaching?!

May 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

People often ask what a Money Coach is and is it the same as a financial advisor- actually, it’s not at all like a financial advisor. Money Coaching combines both practical financial guidance with sound psychological principles and universal spiritual beliefs to help transform your relationship with money and lead a more purposeful and prosperous life.

Through a step-by-step process, Money Coaching will guide you to a deeper understanding of unconscious beliefs and patterns that create stress, anxiety and fear and prevent you from having the life you desire.
A Money Coach gives you an opportunity to explore your unconscious patterns, beliefs, and behaviors around money. As these become conscious, one can transform their relationship to money and exercise conscious choice about anything and everything having to do with money. What would your life be like if money were not an issue?

Close your eyes for a minute <kinda tricky to read this and follow along with your eyes closed. hmmn, must add audio to this blog>, now take a deep breath and let it out slowly and imagine your life AFTER you’ve completely transformed your relationship to money. What does it look like? How does it FEEL? What’s different? Do you have work that you love that pays you what you believe you’re worth? Does your work relate to or fulfill your purpose in life? Are you debt-free? Are you managing your income such that you’re saving for things that are important to you and your future? Investing? Do you feel competent and confidant with regard to money, income, finances, spending, saving, and investing?

Money Coaching begins with a set of 4 sessions with an assignment to complete in between the sessions. This is the Core Money Coaching and is the same 4 sessions and same assignments for every client (their experience and personal discoveries will vary of course, but the format is the same). Many clients are so thrilled with the process and results that they continue on after the core work. The sessions then are customized around that clients needs and interests and leads them to the freedom to fulfill their purpose and to live the life they choose for themselves.

My aim is to serve people (who are spiritually oriented toward self-actualization as well as serving humanity, nature, and the divine in significant ways) by supporting and guiding them to continually increase their awareness, transform their consciousness, and expand their capacity and intention to clear the way to their self-actualization, fulfilling their purpose, and living balanced joyful lives. My aim is to coach these people to live and work with ease, flow, delight, abundance, and success and to leave behind a new legacy for freedom and fulfillment.

In addition to being Certified as a Money Coach, I am also Certified as a Results Coach, an NLP Master Practitioner and Trainer, and Ericksonian Hypnotherapist. I weave quantum tools for accelerated change into my coaching work. The work is very graceful yet quite powerful and effective. A highly motivated person can transform their beliefs and create new habits quite quickly. The NLP and Hypnotherapy facilitate the rapid creation of new neural pathways for new beliefs and behaviors.
