The Inside Out Approach
Here’s a bit more from Stephen Covey on the The Inside Out Approach to personal and interpersonal effectiveness:
Start first with self, the inside part: with your paradigms, your character, and your motives.
The Inside Out Approach says that private victories precede public victories, that making and keeping promises to ourselves precedes making and keeping promises to others. It says that its futile to put personality ahead of character, to try to improve our relationships with others before improving ourselves. You can’t be successful with others if you haven’t paid the price of success with yourself. When I found this to be quite true in my own life, I made some changes: focusing more on honoring my agreements with myself.
Inside-out is a process- a continuing process of renewal based on the natural laws that govern human growth and progress. It’s an upward spiral of growth that leads to progressively higher forms of responsible independence and effective interdependence.
There are two ways to put ourselves in control of our lives immediately. We can make a promise and keep it. Or, we can set a goal and work to achieve it. As we make and keep commitments, we begin to establish an inner integrity that gives us the awareness of self-control and the courage and strength to accept more of the responsibility for our own lives. By making and keeping promises to ourselves and others, little by little, our honor becomes more powerful than our moods in determining our behavior.

The Economy and Mahashivaratri: Fears and Beliefs Point the Way to Growth and Healing
Right now, many people think that having plenty of money would make them feel whole because their sense of security is being threatened by their belief in a failing economy. This is actually a very good indicator of where their belief really is. Your fear and insecurity is always pointing the way to your healing as a spiritual being. What do you fear? If it’s a lack of security, then you believe in the idea that money and business comes FROM people instead of THROUGH people.
There is only one source of supply – God/Source/Universe/Spirit- whatever term works for you. No situation or circumstance can change that truth.
No matter what it is that you secretly desire, if you believe that it will come from God/Source/Universe/Spirit (and NOT from other people), it can be yours. If you believe that, you can be At Cause rather than At Effect (see previous posts about these terms), you can utilize Universal Laws such as the Law of Attraction. Beliefs are KEY! Your success with anything is dependent upon your beliefs. If you have conflicting beliefs, even at the subconscious level, your chances of success are undermined. NLP, Hypnosis and Theta Healing are great ways to resolve such conflicting beliefs!
I filmed a video on Friday for my soon-to-launch website for my business, Money Mastery. Some clients came in to film testimonials about working with me. One of them talked about discovering in our work together how many limiting beliefs he had been unaware of. As we uncovered these beliefs and resolved them, his entire life began to shift and improve- even in areas that we weren’t directly addressing. How cool is that? It frequently happens! That’s the power of using quantum physics in my processes with clients.
Today is Maha Shivratri, the night of the worship of Shiva. It occurs on the 14th night of the new moon during the dark half of the month of Phalguna (Feb / March). It’s the darkest of all the new moons. It’s a time when Hindus offer special prayer to the lord of destruction. I study Anusara yoga with an amazing teacher, Laura Christensen. In talking about the auspiciousness of this day, she said it’s a good time to release what you don’t want to make space for what you do want (I say it’s ALWAYS a good day to do that!), and to clarify your intentions. Get crystal clear on what it is that you want. Allow yourself to FEEL what it will be like when it comes to fruition. Allow yourself to feel your longing and desire. Don’t hold back. No one is watching. This is the day to really let yourself feel it.
Rather than using the words “I want ______” Use the words “May it be”. For example: rather than saying “I want a great job.” , say:”May I have the right job for me at this time.”
May we all have the fruition of our hearts’ deepest desires!

The Science of Getting Rich
The Law of Gratitude
Gratitude is so important and powerful for myriad reasons; here are a few:
Gratitude allows you to relate to Source, Spirit, God, Universe, whatever term you use for this, in a harmonious way and puts you in unity with the mind of god. This has enormously powerful repercussions. Your mind will be in closer alignment with the mind of god, with Creative Thought, and with the flow of abundance.
Gratitude keeps us from falling prey to competitive thought or thoughts of scarcity.
Gratitude attracts.
You cannot exercise much power without gratitude because gratitude keeps you connected with power. Ditto for happiness.
A grateful mind expects good things, has faith, attracts and receives good things. This serves to increase faith which increases attraction and receiving. You get the idea? Faith is another KEY.
Be grateful for whatever life presents you with. You may not be able to see or appreciate the perfection when what life presents you with appears negative, but it’s all part of your growth if you use it as such. Realize that you have received already; be grateful. Practice saying or writing ” I’m so happy and grateful now that ________”. Fill in the blank as many times as you can. Do this before you go to bed. Do it with your kids. Do it with your partner or spouse. Have a notebook or journal just for this. See how fast you can fill it up. Create a contest in your family or household to see who can fill theirs first. If you have difficulty getting started, go see Slumdog Millionaire. You may feel more grateful for what you have after seeing this film.
Do your best. Each of us will do our best when we are doing our Purpose.

The Science of Getting Rich, Part 2
THIS IS NOT A TIME TO PLAY A CONSERVATIVE GAME! THIS IS A TIME TO STEP UP AND PLAY A BIGGER GAME THAN EVER BEFORE.
Although these posts are about Wallace Wattles’ book, The Science of Getting Rich, I’m reminded of Warren Buffet’s advice: the best investment is the one you make in yourself! Investing in yourself may be a necessary part of being able to step up and play a bigger game than ever before. Most people will need some sort of support to be able to do this. Determine what sort of support you need and don’t hesitate to get it. Most of the calls I get from people interested in working with me are motivated by these people coming to the determination that without support for changing themselves, they will remain where they are, or worse, decline. David Neagle paraphrased Wallace Wattles’ Ch. 14 to explain why so many people are sinking so rapidly financially right now. It’s a much different perspective on these crazy times than you’ll find on the news.
Ch. 14 is all about The Impression of Increase which has to do with the way that spirit within each of us wants to express itself more and more fully. As a result, this energy will either propel you forward or backward depending on your orientation. (See now why I spent so much time in the last post on ways to anchor your orientation of choice?) You will not just stay put. Many people who think they can behave very conservatively and just stay put are finding that it’s not working very well.
The normal desire for increased wealth is a normal human desire for a more abundant life. People are attracted to the individuals that can give them more of the means to this. You are a creative center from which increase is given TO ALL. You are giving constant increase to yourself and to all with whom you deal. You need to convey this, with integrity and conviction, to all and make sure they receive this impression from you that you are an advancing person that you are spreading the wealth. This is KEY to the Impression of Increase and it’s attraction factor. Others will be attracted to you and your business because they will feel that in associating with you, they will experience increase themselves. Give all greater value than the cash value you receive from them. If you always do these things, your business will increase rapidly. You’ll be able to secure greater advantages and continue to spread the benefits.
Through all of this, hold onto your vision and your purpose. Lift others and bring them along. “What I want for myself, I want for everybody”. This line is in the book and it’s the same thought that motivated me to change professions and create Money Mastery and this blog!
stay tuned: next post: The Law of Gratitude. You really don’t want to miss this!

The Science of Getting Rich
Wallace Wattles published the book, The Science of Getting Rich, around the beginning of the 1900’s and it’s still timely…..perhaps more so right now in this current economy where words like recession, depression, decession, etc. are constantly in the news.
David Neagle, one of my mentors, recently gave a talk to his Platinum coaching group on Chapters 4, 14 and 7 of this book. Since I’m aware that few can afford the price tag of this elite group’s membership, I’m going to share with you the learnings from this talk. I have 6 pages of notes from the talk and it’ll probably take at least a few blog posts to sum it up so, be sure to stay tuned over the next week or two. I generally post twice a week.
To change the effects we are getting, we must change our thoughts. This takes vigilance. We must continually bring our thoughts back to where we want them to be. This takes practice and vigilance. Eventually, we train our minds and this thinking becomes automatic. Don’t expect it to happen right away. Many people find this extremely challenging, yet it’s one of the KEYS to designing your own changes. Remain committed to the practice. This is how you become a Mastermind.
Some suggestions to support this practice:
-put up notes in your environment to remind you of what you want to be thinking and what beliefs you are cultivating.
-Listen to recorded books that reinforce these messages while in the car, when you’re exercising, cleaning the house, cooking dinner, etc… This will keep your mind oriented in this direction and you’ll reflect on what you heard even when you’re no longer playing the recording; this will continue to keep your mind oriented.
-Read something, short or long, that orients your mind in this direction first thing in the a.m. and last thing in the p.m. This takes very little time and is quite effective. You orient your mind to hold these truths in your consciousness for the entire night and the entire day.
-Write your key thoughts on a 3 x 5 card, in your PDA or wherever, and carry it with you and look at it throughout the day. Set an alarm on your cell phone or computer to remind you to look at it hourly or bi-hourly or whatever intervals you choose. Obviously, the more often, the better.
Guard your mind from detractors. Reduce or eliminate your exposure to negative people and negative thought. Turn off the radio, t.v., and other sources of media which are designed to cultivate fear and unrest.
Start where you are. Yes, you can start from exactly where you are. Right now. You don’t need to wait for anything to be different.
That which may have worked well for you or your business even just recently may have stopped working. This necessitates that you step up in a much bigger way than ever before. This is happening to people and businesses all over. This is one of the reasons some are sinking very fast and others are rising very fast. People are unaware of how forces are affecting them and what they can do to change their course and use their power. People often act counter-productively in such circumstances. THIS IS NOT A TIME TO PLAY A CONSERVATIVE GAME! THIS IS A TIME TO STEP UP AND PLAY A BIGGER GAME THAN EVER BEFORE.

Love, Money, Business, and The Law of Attraction
With Valentines Day approaching, here are some thoughts about how love affects not only our relationships with people, but our relationship with money and success which is one of the main themes of the Thrivelocity blog and Money Mastery (my unique approach and method of helping you to improve your Inner Game of money, earn what you’re worth doing work that you love and fulfills your purpose). So, regardless of whether you have a human Valentine, this post is for you.
Love is the emotion of God and the Universe; and real love is an act of participation in the achievement of the fuller expression and expansion of all life. This is why we feel more alive when we are experiencing love in any form; and why our souls are drawn to these experiences- they are opportunities for the soul to learn, express, and become more free.
The word emotion can be broken down into two parts. E means to express and motion meaning movement. You’re expressing your soul through the movement of energy – vibration.
When we feel something, our bodies react by vibrating at the same frequency as that which we feel. The longer we stay involved with that feeling, the deeper it sinks into our subconscious until we become emotionally involved with it- at which time we vibrate mind, body and soul in harmony with our feelings which have now become emotions.
Your emotions cause you to express that energy as a vibration which seeks to harmonize with other objects, people, circumstances that are moving at the same frequency- The Law of Attraction in action. All energy chooses the path of least resistance and therefore seeks energy just like itself that won’t conflict and cause it to change. Your emotional energy will guide you to circumstances and opportunities that are a direct reflection of how you feel.
So, if you are in a state of real love (romantic love is not required here) what will become of your life? You will find yourself with abundance, happiness, success, and health because that would be the fuller expression and expansion of you. You’ll also do it in such a way as to cause others to join you as well as attracting relationships into your life that already harmonize with your mission of mutual benefit for all. What does this mean for your business? It means that true love is the corner stone to building both your client base and your income.
